For me, clay is inherently feminine and my vessels are physical manifestations of this. Hand-built slowly through extruding and coiling, as it allows for a meditative rhythm that echoes my bodily movement.

A breath in and out, coiling up and blending down. By engaging with this historically feminine technique, I share an intimate connection and partnership with clay. Each coil represents a part of myself surrendered to the work.

Directly influenced by the body, my forms feature soft, sweeping lines and billowing bellies. Created to fit into the contours of the figure, I am interested in the juxtaposition between the rigidity of clay against the softness of the body.

When holding my vessels, feeling the hard coolness impressed into the warmth of my stomach, I feel a soft maternal tug towards them.
